(Reuters) - Slovenia ended coach Tomaz Kavcic's brief spell in charge following a dismal run of one win in seven games, the Slovenian Football Association (NZS) said in a statement.

A 1-1 draw against Cyprus on Tuesday left Slovenia bottom in Group 3 of the UEFA Nations League's third division with one point from four matches.

Under Kavcic, appointed in December, Slovenia recorded only one victory - a 2-0 away win over Montenegro in a friendly in June. They also suffered five defeats, scoring just two goals.

"The decision (to sack Kavcic) was taken mainly due to bad performances and bad results in the Nations League," NZS president Radenko Mijatovic said, adding the association would try to find Kavcic's replacement as soon as possible.

Slovenia host group leaders Norway in their next Nations League's match on Nov. 16 and visit second-placed Bulgaria three days later.
