Women receive sorority bids at Foellinger Auditorium on Sept. 12, 2017. Social media director Kelly explains how Greek life is a great way for new students to get involved in campus life and make friends who share similar interests.

The University of Illinois Fraternity & Sorority Affairs’ student leadership honor society will hold their fifth annual Alumni Hall of Fame ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of Illinois Greek alumni Saturday.

Alumni being inducted include Jayne DeLuce of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, James Floyd Jr. of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Jack Klues of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, Andrea Darlas of Pi Beta Phi sorority and posthumous recognition of Arnold Beckman of Delta Upsilon fraternity.

Inductees are selected from a long list of successful fraternity and sorority alumni and nominations from fraternity and sorority chapters, said Ashley Dye, director for Fraternity & Sorority Affairs. Inductees are then chosen by the Order of Omega executive board and affairs staff.

Dye said they look at alumni who have reached professional success in their careers, but they can also be recognized for their dedication and volunteering to their national organizations.

DeLuce, president and CEO of Visit Champaign County, will be recognized for over 30 years in the sports and tourism industry, as well as maintaining active involvement in her sorority’s Champaign-Urbana Alumnae Association.

Floyd, vice president of McDonald’s U.S. operations, will be inducted for his professional success and for giving back to his fraternity, alma mater and local community.

Klues will be recognized for his 35-year career in media and numerous industry honors.

Beckman, inventor of the pH meter and the DU spectrophotometer, will be inducted for his professional success and contributions of nearly $300 million supporting colleges and fraternities through his Beckman Foundation.

The Alumni Hall of Fame ceremony gives the Greek community a unique way to recognize their lifelong members, Dye said.

“We possibly reconnect them to the campus or honor them for staying connected to their fraternity or sorority in some way. It’s a great opportunity for our students to hear from some of our most successful alumni,” Dye said.
