A family reunion turned nightmare as gun violence erupted in Southwest Miami-Dade, leaving a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. A hail of bullets rained down near West Perrine Park on Saturday evening, disrupting what was meant to be a gathering of love and togetherness.

Miami-Dade Police stated that they received a ShotSpotter alert and rushed to the scene at Southwest 171st Street and 104th Avenue where they found the victim suffering from injuries. The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was swiftly attended to by paramedics and rushed to Jackson South Medical Center in unknown condition, as WSVN reported.

According to a statement by Miami-Dade Police obtained by NBC Miami, another shooting incident occurred at SW 103rd Avenue and SW 170th Terrace, where officers discovered a woman with gunshot wounds to the back at approximately 7:03 P.M. on Saturday.

Witnesses to the family reunion shooting recounted a blue Dodge speeding away from the scene. "I seen a Dodge, a blue Dodge speeding down, and I seen three girls get out, and they started shooting," said Natasha, according to an interview with WSVN. Another witness, Tracey Walker, revealed that there had been a foreboding social media post earlier in the day. "This morning, on Facebook, [a post said], 'Do not come to this reunion 'cause it’s gonna be shot up,'" Walker told WSVN.

As police investigators cordoned off the block to collect evidence and information, one woman lamented the prevailing gun violence. "Really said that we can’t come together and love each other without the gun violence," she said. "Honestly, we are trying to control this, but if the parents of the kids don’t tell what’s going on, we’ll never be able to control it, 'cause parent knows what their child is doing," she further explained in an interview with WSVN.

The police are continuing to investigate both incidents, and as of now, have not provided further details about the suspects involved.
