Conservationist Groups File Protest Against Nevada Fracking Plans

Three conservation groups launched a protest against a Bureau of Land Management plan to allow fracking on more than 600 miles of Nevada public lands.

The Ely Times reports the protests were filed by the Center For Biological Diversity, Wildlands Defense and Basin and Range Watch.

They claim the BLM has violated the National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act by failing to analyze risks of drilling.

Development of these parcels would mean one of the largest fracking plans in the country.

The environmental groups say it could contaminate ground and surface water, threaten endangered species and cause irreparable harm to the global climate.
